About HorseRaceBase.
Sick and tired of following tipsters, so-called experts and blind
hunches, we began to think about how we could improve the way we bet.
As it always did, our thoughts came back to following horses/jockeys/trainers/stalls
etc of a certain type over a period of time. In other words following systems.
There are packages you can buy, people you can follow, resources you
can use and many ways of obtaining the information required to operate these systems. But
the information comes at a cost. Either being -
- Too expensive. £50 a month for a list of horses from a tipster, which you
are basically backing blindly or £60 a month for a database when you only want run a few
select searches!
- Too time consuming. Gathering together six months of racing results and manually
obtaining the answer takes a long time and is extremely frustrating when it turns out to be
a non-starter!
- Short lived. Most good systems are eventually realised by the bookies or fellow punters.
- Unsubstantial. There is no point running a search and following a system only to find
out the information was inaccurate or missing key elements.
- Not flexible. There are some excellent facilities out there.
However too often you have a particular criteria to meet and they don’t support it!
- Unsupported. Its all good and well being told that following system Z is going to be
profitable, but why follow what is likely to be someone else’s opinion without some back-up?
- Nonsense. Unfortunately, there are just so many cons out there
talking complete and utter garbage and charging money for it.
The list could go on and on, because the truth is the negatives were
endless! We decided the solution to the problem did exist and it suddenly became very apparent
that moaning was pointless. The only way to get what we wanted was to create it ourselves.
Through countless hours of work the database was built, used, tested, maintained and
continually improved.
With this at our disposal we have used it to build tools which we ourselves
use to compile our bets/lays. Our aim is to continue adding new and better facilities.
It started off as an idea, it became a project and now its our livelihood. The exciting part
though, is that we have only just begun.
