Horse Racing Ratings & Ratings Machine Frequently Asked QuestionsWhat are the ratings and how are they calculated?Ratings are computer generated figures evaluating a horse's past performance in various tests. By using calculations based on a saved template of settings we can consider how the horse has performed in each test and put together a series of scores. Then we can combine the scores to create a final rating for each horse in any given race. In theory the highest rated horse would have the greatest chance of winning, unfortunately there is much more to it than this. See the help section dedicated to ratings for more detailed information and information on how to create your own. Back to top What is the ratings machine and what does it do? There is a section in the help menu dedicated solely to the ratings, which is essential reading. As a brief explanation, the ratings machine is a tool which allows you to create ratings based on your own settings. By applying amounts to several different tests, the ratings machine will save your preferences and then recall and apply them to any race of your choosing. This means you are in complete control and can create various sets of ratings for different types of races placing emphasis on the factors you consider to be most important. Back to top What are the standard ratings? We created the standard ratings as a guideline with common figures in each of the settings, they are available to everyone and can be used as a guide when creating your own ratings, used as you please or ignored altogether! Back to top How do i create my own ratings? First make sure you are logged in! Then simply navigate to the ratings machine page and follow the instructions. Back to top How do i edit or delete existing settings i have? You can do this from the options in the Ratings Machine main page. Be sure to choose the correct option as hitting delete will immediately destroy any settings! Back to top Can i backcheck how my ratings have performed in the past? Unfortunately we are unable to provide this service at the moment, it is something requested quite often and we have our team looking at ways to develop this feature. Back to top |
