Additional Facilities Help Page

Results

The Results Page can show racing results of all races in the UK and Ireland going back to 1st January 1997.
Select the date of the race using the Day, Month and Year dropdowns and then press Go.
All races for that day will be displayed, in Track/Time order.
When you find the race you wish to view, click the link and the race details will appear.

Form Follow

The Form Follow facility allows you to view how the race has worked out.
After navigating to the race result you wish to check, click the orange "Follow" button which is in the centre between the general race details and the runners. You will then be given a breakdown of each horse and details of its record in the following 30 days. You can change the number of days by using the dropdown to the left hand side. The detail for each horse shows the number of runs (with confirmation of how many days you are checking), number of wins, second placings, third placings and how many points you would have gained/lost had you backed it each time it ran.
The points are calculated by deducting 1 point for each losing run and adding on relevant points for each winning run. So a horse who had ran 5 times and lost all 5 would have SP Points total of -5. Had it won once at 8/1 it would have SP Points total of 4 (8-1-1-1-1). If it had won every race at prices 7/2, 4/5, 6/1, 10/1, 33/1 it would have SP Points total of 53.30 (3.5 + 0.8 + 6 + 10 + 33). At the bottom are subtotals, giving figures had you backed every horse coming out of the race over the selected number of days (with the same theory of calculation as detailed above). To return to the Details of the race again, simply press the orange "Details" button.

Search

The Search Page is extremely easy to use. Simply enter part of the name (minimum of 3 characters), set whether it is a Horse, Trainer or Jockey you are looking for and then press Go. When the results are displayed, click on the appropriate link and you will be taken to the record for your selection.

One element to be careful with is searching for something that contains an apostrophe. For example if you are looking for the horse called "King's Revenge", it will not be found when entering "Kings". It will however be found using any of the following "King's Revenge", "King", "Revenge".

Todays Tools

Along with the ratings and racecards the tools every day include analysis of the horse performance in certain tests, such as the days distance & going and also the general form. We are adding more and more all the time and the best place if you need help is on the faq page. Alternatively, you can post on the forum or contact us

My Horses

This function allows you to create a personalised list of horses and easily find out if they are running each day. It is available to our donators only. To add a horse to your list simply find the horse in question, click the yellow 'Notify Me' button and confirm you wish to add it. From then on you will be notified if it is running when you log in to your personalised homepage each day.
If you want to remove a horse from your list, use the Drop button next to the horse's name on your personalised homepage. You can monitor as many horses as you wish but try to be realistic, monitoring 200 horses would seem a little excessive and will only slow down your homepage as it loads up your criteria.

My Races

With the My Races function you can pick races you want to follow and then each day when you log in to your homepage you will be advised if any of the horses in that race are running their first or second race since that run.
So if you come across a race where you feel the form may prove particularly strong/weak and want to back/lay or simply watch the horses on their subsequent runs, you can do so easily. The facility is for donators only.
To add a race to your My Races list, use the
Results link and navigate to the race in question. Then, either on the race result page or the race follow page, you will see a yellow 'Notify Me' button.
If you press this, you will be asked to confirm you wish to add the race to your My Races list, upon doing so, it will be saved into the HorseRaceBase database and the function will be activated.
If you want to remove a race from your list, use the Drop button next to the race on your personalised homepage. You can monitor as many races as you wish but be careful as if you go overboard the database will take longer to load your homepage and it will be only your own performance affected.

My Systems

With the My Systems function you can save your system settings and upon login to your homepage each day be advised if any of your systems have qualifiers running that day.
. To save a system, build your criteria as required and at the Final System Analysis page press the yellow 'Notify Me' button.
You will then be presented with a display of your 6 available saved system slots. Choose an available slot and press the appropriate 'Use Slot' button. Your 6 saved systems can be managed from your homepage - note you must have an available empty slot in order to save a new system.
After pressing 'Use Slot' you will reach a final confirmation page. Take particular note of the 'Unavailable Criteria' and 'Potential Problems' sections below as if you are not completely aware of these, you may unwittingly miss out on correct qualifiers or throw up incorrect qualifiers.
After confirming you wish to save the system settings, your homepage will have been updated. To remove saved system settings, use the Drop button next to the appropriate slot on your personalised homepage. We can again only stress the importance of being sensible with systems as incorrect use will only affect your own performance. Creating a system which notifies you of every runner at a particular track would be very foolish as would any other extremely vague set of criteria. It is totally up to you though!
Unavailable Criteria
Unfortunately your system cannot Favouritism status (as its unknown prior to the off) or the Limitations feature (use races).
Potential Problems
Be aware of some criteria which may change as the day progresses. Obviously information related to previous runs will not alter. The My Systems function will operate on the information loaded into it the night before, anything which changes after that will result in potential inaccuracies. For example a late jockey change, overweight or non runner would possibly cause a problem. The categories, which may be affected are Odds (this is the most likely alteration, odds are based on a forecast price), Going, Jockey, Jockeys Claim, Number of Runners, Top OR in Race, Weight & Weight Comparison (Top, Avg & Bot).

Hot Races

This is a tool we designed to assist you when searching for races producing good form. By using it we can instantly recognise the races where winners and placed form are coming from. It can be combined well with the My Races facility as you can save these races and be notified when qualifiers are running. The Form Follow tool is also most beneficial as it will show exactly which horses in the race have gone on to do well.

As with all our tools It is important to understand how 'Hot Races' works in order to obtain maximum effect from this very powerful feature. When you first access the hot races page, you will be presented with the 5 key instructions, a box showing the existing criteria and then a list of all the matching 'hot races', these are ordered by the number of winners and then number of placings to come out of the race (when looking at each competing horse's next two runs).
It is up to you to then decide which types of race you are specifically trying to find form for. When you have decided, use the dropdowns to indicate your preference and press Go.

The first dropdown is all important, it lets you filter so that only races which have a qualifying runner in the current day's races are included in the database search. Setting this to Yes will change the presentation layout and show the horse running today qualifying from the 'hot race' and where it finished in the race in relation to the number of runners. The second dropdown 'Min Place' can be used in conjunction with the first and will only be used in the event of 'Yes' being applied to the first (as described above). 'Min Place' means you can state you are only looking for horses who finished a certain position or higher in the race.
If you set the first dropdown as NO, you are looking through all races meeting your criteria and these may or may not have a qualifier today - in this case you will be presented with the actual race and some details pertaining to it. The rest of the dropdowns are simple enough and allow you to categorise which type of 'hot race' you are looking for.

Below are 3 typical examples of what you may be searching for and how to fill the dropdowns accordingly (in each example you need only change the dropdowns listed - everything else can be left as it is).

Look for 'Hottest' maidens on the All Weather in the last year
Set 'Race Date' - Within last 365 days, 'Race Category' - All Weather, 'Beg-Mdn-Nov-Nrs' - Maidens
Look for horses running today who finished in top 3 of a hot handicap, ran in last 60 days
Set 'Today??' - YES, 'Min Place' - 3, 'Hcap/Non' - Handicaps
Look for the 'Hottest' NH Flat (bumper) races of the past 6 months
Set 'Race Date' - Within last 180 days, 'NH Race Types' - NH Flat

Some important things to remember. Firstly and most importantly, even if you find a hot race with a horse running today, there are obviously no guarantees of victory. Secondly, you may sometimes be discouraged to realise there are no particularly hot races - this is life unfortunately and nothing in this game is easy, of course it may be the case the form has worked out very bad and you may consider a lay! Finally, be very careful to look closely at a race and where the runner you are backing finished as it may be the case you find a race thats produced 10 winners, but if your horse finished tailed off behind all of them, it would be foolish to consider him as a wise bet.
