About the Ratings Machine

The HorseRaceBase Ratings Machine is an extremely powerful tool allowing members to create their own user-defined sets of ratings, which can then be called upon to provide analysis of any race in the UK and Ireland. The workings of the Machine and how ratings ae calculated are complex, however the steps to create the ratings are made as simple as possible and all the user need worry about is completing values appropriately.

Create New Ratings

To create new ratings you need to go to the Ratings Machine - Personal Ratings Management page then select the circle next to Create New and press Go. After doing so, you will be asked to give a name to your set of ratings - the name should be something memorable to help you easily identify them when you wish to call upon them. Once you have entered a name in the text box, press Go and a blank set of ratings will be created and you will be taken to the overview page.

Use Template

It may be the case you wish to use an existing set of ratings to help you in the creation of a new set - this option lets you do so. Go to the Ratings Machine - Personal Ratings Management page then select the circle next to Use Template and press Go. You will be taken to a page showing a dropdown menu listing ratings settings available to use as a template. These will include HorseRaceBase communal sets plus any personal existing settings you have already saved.
Using the dropdown menu choose the applicable settings, then in the text box below enter a name for your NEW ratings. Once you have entered a name in the text box, press Go and you will receive confirmation a new set has been created. To make amendments return to the Ratings Machine - Personal Ratings Management page and use the View/Test/Edit option.

View/Test/Edit

You will want to view, test and edit your ratings settings and it is with this option you can do so. Go to the Ratings Machine - Personal Ratings Management page then select the circle next to View/Test/Edit and press Go. After doing so you will be presented with a dropdown showing a list of all your existing ratings settings. Use the dropdown to select the set you wish to view, test or edit and then press Go. This will take you to the Overview page.

Delete

It is wise to remove any ratings settings you decide are no longer required. This is beneficial not only to yourself in terms of user-friendliness, but also HorseRaceBase is a community site and the more efficient members are in their use of the facilities, the quicker the site will operate for everyone.
To delete unwanted ratings settings go to the Ratings Machine - Personal Ratings Management page then select the circle next to delete. You will be taken to a page with a list of all your saved ratings settings, choose the set you wish to delete and then press Go. Be very careful as once your ratings are deleted they can not be retrieved.
